In-Home Euthanasia and Hospice Care

Pet hospice is a very specialized type of veterinary care for pets in the end-of-life stage once the owners have decided not to pursue curative treatment. Hospice care focuses on quality of life and comfort, not a cure. With pet hospice, we focus on educating owners as to what to expect, and helping you plan for your pet’s end of life transition, be it pet euthanasia or natural death. We focus on your family’s needs, as well as your pet’s.

The Quality of Life Assessment is an appointment where we discuss your pet’s diagnosis, prognosis, and what is likely to happen in the upcoming months. We discuss the common quality of life scales you can use at home, and help you think about what endpoints you might be considering for your own pet.

At home, your pet is at his or her most comfortable. They don’t need to leave their favorite spot in the sun or move when they are in pain. You can be there by yourself or with the whole extended family. You can take your time, plus you don’t need to drive home afterwards.

Death is a major life transition. Euthanasia at home minimizes the medical aspect of this transition and allows you to focus on your pet.

At-home euthanasia services include:

  • A discussion with you about your concerns, thoughts, or questions surrounding euthanasia.
  • Mild sedation to help ease any discomfort; you deserve one last memory of your pet calm and comfortable.
  • Euthanasia, the final gift.
  • We can arrange for cremation services if needed
